Creating Comfort in the Everyday with “Tales of a Homebody”

As a self-proclaimed homebody, my home is more than just where I live—it’s my sanctuary, the place where I feel the most like myself. So, it feels perfectly fitting that this year’s calendar revolves around everything I love about home.

The inspiration for "Tales of a Homebody" actually dates back to a photo series I created in grad school titled *"Quietly Yours."* At the time, I had only produced six images but wanted to expand it into something much larger. That experience marked a turning point for me, leading me to commit to creating a new calendar each year, each with its own unique theme, color palette, and aesthetic that reflects the current trends.

Every year, I explore the theme of “home” because it’s where my creative heart lies. While my dioramas often represent domestic spaces, I find that my evolving style and skills allow even familiar ideas to be reimagined in new and exciting ways.

After a lot of brainstorming, I’ve narrowed this year’s concepts down to 18, and I’m excited about how they’re taking shape. The ones that don’t make it into the calendar will still have a place—they’ll be featured in a zine of the same name, "Tales of a Homebody."

Certain themes like cooking or reading seem to find their way into every calendar, and I’ve come to see these as part of my creative signature. It’s a challenge I enjoy—taking a familiar concept and finding new ways to make it feel fresh, personal, and meaningful.

I can’t wait to share these moments of quiet, everyday life, and I hope they resonate with you as much as they do with me.
